Why is Shanghai called &”;Magic Capital&”;

We always talk about &”;Imperial Capital&”; Beijing and &”;Magic Capital&”; Shanghai. &”;Magic Capital&”; has almost become synonymous with Shanghai. Then why is Shanghai called &”;Magic Capital&”;? This will start with a Japanese. In Japan in the first half of the twentieth century, there was a passionate scholar who even compared him to a lover. This person was Muramatsu. Song Shaofeng Village Song Shaofeng was born in 1889 and died in 1961. He was born in a landlord family in Shizuoka Prefecture. Muramatsu worked as a teach《琴姬物语》 to 《中央公论》 magazine, but he didn&;t expect it to be appreciated by the editor-in-chief. Since then, Muramatsu has become one of the literary circles. And the saying that Shanghai is called &”;the magic capital&”; comes from Muramatsu&;s pen. In 1923, Muramatsu came to Shanghai. As a writer who &”;writes with his feet&”;, Muramatsu&;s trip was to find new writing materials, and of course he was influenced by Akutagawa Ryunosuke. Akutagawa made a three-month visit to China in 1921. Aft《上海游记》 and other travel notes in the newspaper, which made many Japanese people know about Shanghai, and Muramatsu was one of them. In Shanghai, Muramatsu met many writers of &”;new literature&”; and kept close contact with Guo Moruo, Yu Dafu, Tian Han and others. He also met Zhu Fuchang, a &”;young gentleman&”;, and under the guidance of Zhu Fuchang, Muramatsu traveled all over Shanghai. In his works, restaurants, teahouses and theaters in Shanghai are all mentioned, and they are described very vividly and interestingly. In his view, the famous &”;big world&”; in Shanghai &”;reflects the whole tradition and the world.&”; The complex and peculiar feeling felt in Shanghai, Matsumura concentrated it in the word &”;magic capital&”;. Aft《不可思议的都市“上海”》 in th《中央公论》 of August 1923. In the following year, he published several articles about Shanghai in a collection with 《不可思议的都市“上海”》. And invented the word &”;magic capital&”; to use as the title of the new book. In Muramatsu&;s view, the &”;magic&”; of &”;magic capital&”; means both &”;modern&”; and &”;devil&”;. This is the earliest source of the &”;magic capital&”; known at present. After the publication of 《魔都》, this word was gradually acc《上海魔都文学》 was publish《魔都上海 十万日本人》 was published in 1995. When the word &”;magic capital&”; was introduced, it was at the end of the 20th century. This word first attracted the attention of academic circl《上海通史》, edited by Mr. Xiong Yuezhi, includ《魔都》.
