Guanzhou Island belongs to Guanzhou Street, Haizhu District, Guangzhou, and is known as &”;Hainan Island in Guangzhou&”;. Located in the Pearl River waters at the junction of the easternmost part of Haizhu District and Panyu District, it is an island formed by the intersection of the main channel (Guanzhou River) and the secondary channel (Luntouhai) of the Pearl River, with Pazhou area in the north, Guangzhou University Town in the south, Guangzhou Orchard Ecological Reserve in the west and cheung chau island across the river in the east. Covering an area of 1.83 square kilometers, there are three small hills on the island, with an altitude of 37 to 42.7 meters. Guanzhou Island has a history of more than 600 years. In 1999, Guangzhou proposed to build Guanzhou Island into Guangzhou International Biological Island. During this period, five Han tombs were discovered, and the island was closed for construction on October 15, 2008.
