At present, the meteorological services carried out by meteorological departments in China include public service and professional service. Public meteorological service is the general meteorological information and forecast provided by the masses, such as meteorological broadcasting and inquiry on daily radio stations. Professional meteorological services refer to targeted meteorological services, in addition to public meteorological services, to improve work efficiency and reduce consumption and losses according to the special requirements of different production processes in all walks of life in the national economy. In recent years, in order to adapt to the development of national economy, meteorological departments have actively carried out professional meteorological services while strengthening public meteorological services. At present, professional meteorological services have been involved in agriculture: forestry, mining, urban construction, energy, transportation, water conservancy, environmental protection, insurance, tourism, storage and transportation, culture, sports and other industries. Many scientific and technical personnel of meteorological stations went deep into the field, carried out a lot of investigation and scientific research activities, and gradually mastered the requirements of meteorological conditions in many production links, in order to make full use of favorable meteorological conditions and avoid unfavorable weather conditions, and improve production dreams. Significant results have been achieved in reducing losses. For example, in 1988, the brewery in Xinglong County, Hebei Province had to complete the production task of 8,000 tons of beer. To achieve this target, we must break the convention of not producing beer in winter, which has certain risks. If the production in winter is exhausted and the lowest temperature is lower than minus 25℃, the fermentor will be frozen and scrapped. In their indecision, Xinglong County Meteorological Station predicted that the winter of 1987 would be a warm winter, and there would be no low temperature below minus 25℃ from early January to late February in 1988. According to the forecast, the brewery immediately put into production, and the orange fruit forecast was consistent with the actual situation. In winter, it produced 800 tons of beer, with a profit of 9. 60 thousand yuan. For another example, Tianjin Textile Import and Export Corporation had more than 90 pieces of cotton worsted fabrics being loaded on the morning of August 26, 1988. In the afternoon, it received the forecast of heavy rain broadcast by the Municipal Meteorological Observatory, and immediately organized manpower and material resources to work overtime to stack the covers. Just after these cotton fabrics were packed and covered, a heavy rain fell, reducing the economic loss of the country by 180,000 yuan.
