Because the county is close to Huashan Mountain, it was named &”;Huaxian County&”;, which belongs to guangzhou fu, where Hong Xiuquan, the revolutionary leader of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, was born. During the period, Huaxian County was mainly directly under the jurisdiction of the province. After the founding of the People&;s Republic of China, it successively belonged to Jiangbei District, Zhujiang District, Yuebei Administrative District and Foshan District. In April 1960, it was designated as a county in Guangzhou. On June 18, 1993, with the approval of the state, the county was withdrawn to set up a city, which was named &”;Huadu&”; and entrusted by the province to Guangzhou. On May 21, 2000, it was approved by the state to withdraw from the city and set up a district, becoming Huadu District of Guangzhou.

Huadu styleThe Folk Art of Wang Birthday
Since the rebuilding of the Shiling King Temple in the early 24th year of Jiaqing in Qing Dynasty, people have designated August 12th of the lunar calendar as the birthday of the king, and held celebrations for four days from 12th to 15th. After the summer harvest in summer sowing, people came to celebrate their birthdays with a sea of people, full of incense and firecrackers. For four days in a row, there were big plays, firecrackers, lanterns and lion dances, and small vendors also entered the market to sell incense sticks, food, drinks, mascots and transshipment windmills. The scene was very lively. The celebration of Wang Shan&;s birthday was stopped during the period, and then gradually resumed. In 1985, after the renovation of Wang Temple and other historical sites and road environment by private funds, in 1986, the non-governmental organization-Wang Council officially mobilized the masses to reopen the celebration, and the audience reached more than 60,000 on August 12. There will be more than 30,000 people celebrating their birthdays every year. Lions from some villages in the area participated in the birthday celebration. At first light, the lion teams from all over the country were playing drums and gongs. After the lion dance entered the venue, the lion teams lined up in the square in front of the King Temple and danced at the same time, thus celebrating the birthday. In recent years, acting activities have resumed, with four days of afternoon and evening drama (Cantonese opera) or song and dance performances.
Ancient Shiling Yao custom
The custom of King&;s Birthday in Shiling has a long history. A long time ago, there were Yao compatriots in Huashan and Shiling. They first regarded Wang&;s birthday as the ancestor and the omnipotent great man. At that time, it was called &”;King&;s Day&”;. The celebration was different from today. The men and women of Yao nationality dressed up, danced and encouraged, sang, played sticks and set off fireworks, which was very lively. Young men and women also put a song, each other.
Singing duets and lyrics mostly celebrate the harvest and love between men and women. It is said that the Yao nationality in Huaxian County was later assimilated by the Han nationality, and the custom of &”;King&;s Day&”; became today&;s &”;King&;s Birthday Custom&”;. However, the ancient custom is a rich expression of folk art, a folk expression of the desire to celebrate the bumper harvest, pray for peace and pursue love, and a healthy folk custom. The relevant departments in Huadu District are prepared to restore this ancient folk custom on the &”;King&;s Birthday&”; so that the masses can enjoy more folk art.
A good place to climb on the Double Ninth Festival.
The folks in Huadu District have always attached great importance to climbing on the Double Ninth Festival on the ninth day of the ninth lunar month. In the past, all the local famous mountains were climbed by the masses. In order to prevent mountain fires, it is now designated that only Wangshan, Furong Zhang and the staircase can climb the mountain, and all other hills are prohibited from climbing. On that day, more than 100,000 people climbed these hills. It has a long history for Huadu folk Chongyang to climb the mountain. Legend has it that in ancient times, there was a man named Luo Mingkun. The husband and wife lived at the foot of the mountain, lived by farming, worked hard and lived a good life. The couple are charitable and know whose family is in trouble, so they squeeze out a bucket of rice to help. One evening, when Luo Kun came back from work, he met a Taoist priest who asked him for room and board, so he took the Taoist priest home to eat and stay overnight. The next morning, when the Taoist priest left, he said to Luo Kun, &”;On September 9, your family will suffer!&”; Luo Kun quickly replied, &”;If I don&;t do anything wrong in my life, how can I be in trouble?&”; The Taoist priest said, &”;There are unexpected events in the sky, and people will have misfortune one day. You don&;t have to worry. I will help you avoid misfortune, as long as you move to a nearby mountain on September 9 and find a place.&”;Shovel up the vegetation and make some cakes. It&;s natural and safe. On September 9th, Luo Kun and his wife settled down in the bare land with no vegetation on the top of the mountain nearby before dawn, with their children and their clothes. When he reached the top of the mountain, he looked back and saw the smoke billowing from the house, and the fire was burning more and more fiercely, burning from the foot of the mountain to the mountain. Fortunately, Luo Kun&;s family was on the bare ground at the top of the mountain, and the fire could not be caught, saving the lives and property of the whole family. Since then, the story has spread, and people everywhere are afraid of fire on September 9. Then climb the mountain to take refuge. It is also said that people climbed high because of floods. However, climbing the mountain on September 9 has gradually become a custom. Moreover, on this day, you have to make cakes to eat, and the words &”;climbing&”; and &”;eating cakes&”; are homophonic with &”;cake&”;. So far, there is still a folk song: &”;Eat cakes on the Double Ninth Festival, and climb the mountain to avoid disasters; Men, women and children have peace, long life and good luck! &”; Guangzhou has now designated the Double Ninth Festival as the Festival for the Elderly, symbolizing Ankang and longevity!
