Shanghai Pudong Airport is located in the coastal area of Pudong New Area, Shanghai, with an area of 40 square kilometers. The first phase of the airport project was fully started in October 1997 and opened to traffic in September 1999. Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport was formerly known as Chengdu Shuanggui Temple Airport, which was built in 1938. On December 12, 1956, Chengdu Shuanggui Temple Airport was renamed Chengdu Shuangliu Airport.
