In recent twenty years, Guangzhou has gradually moved its factories located in urban areas such as Haizhu and Tianhe to suburban counties, namely Panyu, Conghua and Huadu, Zengcheng and Nansha. In the 1990s, Guangzhou factories were mainly concentrated in Haizhu and Huangpu. The former were state-owned enterprises, while the latter were mainly foreign enterprises attracting investment, such as the east and west areas of Guangzhou Development Zone. At present, Guangzhou factories are concentrated in Guangzhou Development Zone, High-tech Zone in Huangpu, Yonghe Development Zone in Zengcheng, Xintang Town, Panyu District, Nansha District, Huadu District and Conghua District. The main industries are automobile manufacturing, electronics, paper making, petrochemical, clothing, chemical industry, food, daily chemical and so on.
