Baiyun District is a little bigger than Panyu District. Baiyun District is a municipal district of Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province. Its name comes from Baiyun Mountain. It is located in the south of the Tropic of Cancer, with abundant sunshine and rainfall and mild climate. It is adjacent to Huangpu District in the east, Nanhai District of Foshan City in the west, Huadu District and Conghua District in the north, Tianhe District, Yuexiu District and Liwan District in the south. It covers an area of 795.79 square kilometers, accounting for more than half of the original area of the old eight districts in Guangzhou, with a population of 1,636,700. Baiyun District is the central city of Guangzhou with its suburbs. Panyu District, Guangzhou is located in the south-central part of Guangdong Province, in the geographical center of Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Macao, bordering Haizhu District of Guangzhou in the north, Shiziyang in the east, facing Dongguan City, Nanhai District of Foshan City, Shunde District and Zhongshan City in the west, and the Pearl River Estuary in the south, bordering Nansha District, with superior geographical position. With a total area of 529.94 square kilometers, the region governs 6 towns, 10 streets, 177 administrative villages and 84 community neighborhood committees, with a registered population of 806,000 and a registered foreign population of 1.13 million.
