: 00 Eight Great Writers in Tang and Song Dynasties are the collective name of eight famous writers in Tang and Song Dynasties, namely Han Yu, Liu Zongyuan in Tang Dynasty and Ouyang Xiu, Su Xun, Su Shi, Su Zhe (collectively called Sansu), Wang Anshi and Ceng Gong in Song Dynasty. Among them, Han Yu and Liu Zongyuan were the leaders of the ancient prose movement in the Tang Dynasty. They called for the establishment of a brand-new style of writing by reforming the ornate carvings and specializing in flashy literary disadvantages since the Six Dynasties, and they became a trend of grace in the literary world. Ouyang Xiu and Sansu were the core figures of the ancient prose movement in Song Dynasty, while Wang Anshi and Ceng Gong were the representatives of Linchuan literature. The ancient and new waves they set off one after another have made the old appearance of the development of poetry and prose take on a new look. Han Yu and Liu Zongyuan jointly initiated the &”;ancient prose movement&”;, so they are collectively called &”;Hanheyang Liuan&”;. Han Yu and Liu Zongyuan rose up during the reign of Zhenguan in Tang Dynasty and the prosperous time of Kaiyuan, and set off the ancient prose movement, which made the prose in Tang Dynasty flourish. At that time, the ancient prose writers sprang up, forming a situation of &”;all the words are made into pearls and jade&”;. Su Shi, Su Xun and Su Zhe are collectively called the Three Sus. Su Xun is the father of Su Shi and Su Zhe, and Su Shi is Su Zhe&;s brother. Ouyang Xiu is Su Shi&;s teacher, and Wang Anshi and Ceng Gong have all taken Ouyang Xiu as their teachers. Therefore, the Eight Great People in Tang and Song Dynasties are divided into two families in Tang Dynasty (Han Yu, Liu Zongyuan) and six families in Song Dynasty (Su Shi, Su Xun, Su Zhe, Ouyang Xiu, Ceng Gong and Wang Anshi). The eight masters of Tang and Song Dynasties were the central figures who presided over the ancient prose movement in Tang and Song Dynasties. They advocated prose and opposed parallel prose, which had a far-reaching influence on the literary world at that time and later generations. When did the title of &”;Eight Great People in Tang and Song Dynasties&”; originate? According to the investigation, Zhu You compiled the articl《八先生文集》 in th《文编》, compiled by Tang Shunzhi in the middle of Ming Dynasty, only took the articles of eight essayists in Tang and Song Dynasties, and all other writers&; articles were not accepted. This has played a certain role in shaping and spreading the names of the eight famous people in Tang and Song Dynasties. Soon after, Mao Kun, who admired Tang Shunzhi, selected eight articles according to Zhu&;s and Tang&;s compiling methods, and compil《唐宋八大家文钞》, so the name of the Eight Great People in Tang and Song Dynasties was fixed.
