The main peak of Lianhua Mountain is 1337.3m above sea level, which is the first peak along the coast of eastern Guangdong. It looks like a blooming lotus, hence the name. On the slope of the southern foot of the mountain, the mountains are stacked and green alternate with each other, forming the wonders of the world of &”;lotus peaks and emerald green&”;. There are 18 waterfalls such as Shuanglong Waterfall and Echo Waterfall, hot springs such as Zhaogong and Puzai, and natural landscapes such as large and small East Gate, Tianchi and Tathagata Panshi in the scenic area. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, there were seven ancient temples such as Jiming Temple, Yunlian Temple and Jinzhu Temple founded by eminent monks in the mountains, which were well-developed in religion and culture and were known as the &”;Lotus Buddha Country&”;. Celebrities such as Bai Yuchan, Liu Kezhuang, Wen Tianxiang and Ding Richang have lived in seclusion or passed by here, writing poems of praise. In modern times, Peng Pai, Xu Xiangqian, Gu Dacun, etc. opened up and established revolutionary armed base areas here, leaving the remains of the headquarters of the Red Fourth Division.
