Huadu District, a municipal district of Guangzhou, is located in the middle of Guangdong Province, north of the Pearl River Delta, north of Guangzhou, east of Conghua District, south of Baiyun District, west of Sanshui District and Nanhai District of Foshan City, north of Qingcheng District of Qingyuan City, with Guangzhou&;s &”;North Gate&”; and &”;Back Garden&”;; &”;Leather capital&”; and other laudatory names. The whole district covers a total area of 970.04 square kilometers, and has four streets and six towns under its jurisdiction. In 2019, the registered population was 811,300, and the resident population was 1,107,200, achieving a regional GDP of 156.276 billion yuan. Huadu has convenient water, land and air transportation. Beijing-Guangzhou Railway and Wuhan-Guangzhou Passenger Dedicated Line run through the whole territory. Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao Expressway, Guangqing Expressway, Airport Expressway, Daguang Expressway, Guangzhou West Second Ring Road, North Second Ring Road Expressway, Zhaohua Expressway and Huaguan Expressway together form the north-south and east-west expressway network in Huadu. Liuxi River in the east and Bajiang River in the west meet the Pearl River in the south, and ships sail directly to Hong Kong and Macao. Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, located at the junction of Huadu District and Baiyun District, is one of the three major air transportation hubs in China. In October, 2019, it became the 19th place in the list of the top 100 regions with comprehensive strength in China, and was selected into the top 100 regions with investment potential in 2019, top 100 regions with scientific and technological innovation in 2019, and top 100 regions with new urbanization quality in 2019. In July, 2020, it was selected into the list of the top 100 leisure counties and cities in autumn.
