The Han Dynasty was under the jurisdiction of Panyu, the Sui Dynasty was under the jurisdiction of Nanhai County, and after the Song Dynasty, it was under the jurisdiction of Panyu and Nanhai County. In the 25th year of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty (AD 1686), parts of Nanhai and Panyu counties were selected as counties. Because the county is close to Huashan Mountain, it was named &”;Huaxian County&”; and belonged to guangzhou fu. During the period, Huaxian County was mainly directly under the jurisdiction of the province. After the founding of the People&;s Republic of China, it successively belonged to Jiangbei District, Zhujiang District, Yuebei Administrative District and Foshan District. In April 1960, it was designated as a county in Guangzhou. On June 18th, 1993, with the approval of the State Council, Huaxian County was abolished and Huadu City (county level) was established. On May 21st, 2000, with the approval of the State Council, Huadu City was abolished and Huadu District was established in Guangzhou, which was located in Xinhua Town.
