Zhengzhou University, referred to as &”;Zhengda University&”; for short, is a university jointly established by the Ministry of Education and Henan Province. The national &”;211 Project&”; focuses on the construction of universities, and the &”;Comprehensive Strength Improvement Project of Central and Western Universities&”; was selected as a university, as well as the &”;Excellent Engineer Education and Training Plan&”;, &”;Excellent Legal Talents Education and Training Plan&”; and &”;Excellent Doctor Education and Training Plan&”;. 2. Zhengzhou University was founded in 1956. In 1961, Zhengzhou Teachers College was merged. In 1991, Huanghe University was merged. In 1992, Henan Institute of Physical Education was merged. Zhengzhou University of Technology was founded in 1963 as Zhengzhou Institute of Technology. In 1973, the Department of Grain and Oil Industry of Henan Agricultural University was merged. In April 1996, it was renamed Zhengzhou University of Technology. Henan Medical University originated from the Medical Department of the Fifth National Sun Yat-sen University in 1928. In October 1952, it was renamed Henan Medical College. In July 1962, some teachers and students of Luoyang Medical College were merged. In 1984, it was named Henan Medical University. In July 2000, the former Zhengzhou University, Zhengzhou University of Technology and Henan Medical University were merged to form the new Zhengzhou University. 3. As of December 2015, Zhengzhou University covers an area of more than 5,700 mu, and its headquarters includes four campuses: main campus, south campus, north campus and east campus. There are more than 56,000 full-time undergraduate students, more than 15,000 graduate students, more than 1,600 international students and more than 6,000 faculty members. There are 46 hospitals (departments), 9 affiliated hospitals and 104 undergraduate majors. There are 55 first-class master&;s programs, 21 first-class doctoral programs and 24 post-doctoral research stations.
