The vast number of high schools attached to middle schools are public complete middle schools in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, the first batch of first-class schools in Guangdong Province and the national ordinary high schools in Guangdong Province. The school was formerly known as the &”;Northeast Allied Forces Nangang Cadre&;s Children&;s School&”; in 1948. In 1950, it was renamed as &”;The 15th Corps Cadre&;s Children&;s School of the People&;s Liberation Army&”; and later renamed as &”;Guangzhou No.53 Middle School&”;. In 1981, it was renamed &”;Middle School Affiliated to Guangzhou Normal University&”;. In 2001, it was renamed &”;Middle School Affiliated to Guangzhou University&”;.
