In 2011, Guangzhou focused on developing the airport economy, delineated the airport economic zone, and established the Guangzhou Airport Economic Zone Management Committee and the Baiyun Airport Comprehensive Bonded Zone Management Committee. In March 2015, the Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Party Committee proposed that &”;the airport economic zone should be implemented&”;. In December 2016, the State and the Civil Aviation Administration approved the establishment of Guangzhou Airport Economic Demonstration Zone, marking the rise of Guangzhou Airport Economic Zone to a national strategy.
