Haizhu Square is not in Haizhu District. Why is it called Haizhu Square?

Haizhu Square is located on the north side of Haizhu Bridge, which is named after it is located next to Haizhu Bridge. In the Qing dynasty, it was a vegetable and fruit market outside Guangzhou, which was called vegetable column and fruit column. Residential areas were formed in 1930s, and were blown to ruins by Japanese invaders in 1938. In 1951, the West Square was named Haizhu Square, and then the East Square was built. It was officially completed in 1954. In October 1959, in order to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Guangzhou&;s liberation, a memorial statue of Guangzhou&;s liberation was built on the north side of the square. In 1962, it was rated as one of the eight scenic spots in Yangcheng, known as &”;Zhuhai Danxin&”;. Haizhu District was called &”;Henan District&”; in 1950 and renamed Haizhu District in 1960. It was also named after &”;Haizhu Stone&”; and also took the meaning of &”;Pearl of the Sea&”;, which is still in use today. Therefore, the name of &”;Haizhu Square&”; is not named after &”;Haizhu District&”; before &”;Haizhu District&”;.
