Xiao Changhua (1878-1967), a native of Xinjian, Jiangxi, was born in Beijing in Yangzhou, Jiangsu. He is a famous Peking Opera clown performer and an outstanding opera educator. From 1904 to 1940, he taught in Xiliancheng (Fuliancheng) for 36 years. After the founding of the People&;s Republic of China, he has been teaching drama in the Chinese Opera School. His moral character throughout his life has a lot to learn from for future generations. During his teaching career of more than 60 years, he had thousands of apprentices before and after, and cultivated a batch of outstanding opera talents, which spread all over Beijing opera performance groups in China. He never collects privately, and other famous actors from all walks of life, such as Sheng, Dan, Jing, Wu Sheng, Xiao Sheng, Lao Dan and Wu Dan, have all been trained by Xiao.
