The overall planning and construction of Guangzhou University Town was officially started in January 2003, and the first phase of the project was officially completed 19 months later. On September 1st, 2004, the first batch of 10 freshmen from Guangdong universities entered the university town one after another. Guangzhou University Town is positioned as a first-class university park, a center for training senior talents, scientific research and exchange in South China, a new urban area with integrated development of learning, research and production, and an ecological and information-based university park adapted to the market economic system and Guangzhou&;s status as an international regional central city.
